Explore Europe

Garda Lake, Lombardy, Italy.

The Eiffel Tower, Paris.

The Acropolis of Athens, Greece.

The best thing about travelling in Europe is that it’s so easy to get from one country to the next, yet you still feel like you’re in a completely different part of the world every time you cross a border. The cultural diversity of this continent means you can explore some of the most fascinating global history, including stunning architecture and secrets that are still being discovered even to this day.
You could begin with France, a true country of contrasts. There’s the urban romance of Paris, with trips up the iconic Eiffel Tower and artistic tours around the Louvre. But then head out of the city and south into the countryside, and it’s all about the stunning beaches of Cannes, the cultural richness of Provence, or the huge gothic palace in Avignon. Spain is known for sun, sea, and sand, but head inland and discover beautiful mountains and gorges spanned by incredible Roman bridges like the unique example in the town of Ronda. For quiet hospitality, head to the warm welcome of the Greek islands, where searing summers meet incredible food and cheery customs like local music, dancing, plate smashing and fire dancing. Look out for local superstitions like the charms against the evil eye, or flowers hung on doors. A trip to Europe should include Germany, with sights ranging from Cologne cathedral with its tower and tombs, to Berlin and the famous wall. A true piece of European history.
Travelling to Europe has got to include trying the local food wherever you go. Take a trip to a traditional boulangerie and try real French pastries, unequalled anywhere else in the world. Alpine cuisine, traditional food in the mountainous regions of Italy, Switzerland and more, includes schnitzels, kartoffelpaunzen and raclette - a kind of cheese heated and scraped off the hot plate to enjoy while gooey and melted. When in Scandinavia, look out for pickled fish lie rollmops and dill-seasoned salmon, and Norwegian breakfasts of open sandwiches with a range of cheeses and meats. Always ask about local specialities - you might find something you simply won’t get anywhere else.
A tour of Europe wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Amsterdam and its unusual array of museums. As well as museums clearly aimed at adults, there is a whole range of museums and areas dedicated to children. These include sections within both the Tropical Museum and the Jewish Museum, plus the impressive and unique NEMO museum housed within a stunning building that looks just like a boat. In Spain, visit Barcelona and see some of the most ornate and Gothically styled buildings in the world. Come night time, head to any number of the historic or themed bars including some that are over 100 years old. Europe is a continent of colour, hiking, relaxation, adventure and spa breaks. The only question you need to answer is, where do you want to start?
