Experiencing North America can mean something every time you travel here. It's not just about the main cities like New York and Washington DC; North America is home to ancient forests and woodlands, vast national parks, forbidding deserts, and some of the most famous sights in the world.
Many people travel to North America just to see the Grand Canyon – in fact, 5.5 million tourists arrive here each year. This Arizona national park is home to possibly the most famous gorge in the world, but is also a place to enjoy camping, hiking, and to view some of the most stunning scenery in North America. Niagara Falls is the last great sight on the way to Canada, and one not to be missed. A group of three waterfalls, the power and force of the water here is sure to take your breath away, no matter how many times you visit - evidence of the sheer majesty of nature at work. New York is a famous melting-pot of a city, but outside the bustling metropolis, the state of New York is home to incredible countryside including the gorges and lakes of Ithaca, ridges at Cold Spring, and charming villages like Lake Placid.
Some of the most exciting cities in the world are in North America. Boston, Massachusetts, is a fusion of history and the modern, combining 17th-century architecture with futuristic buildings by some of the world’s top architects and designers. Be sure to try the local seafood, especially the chowder. Los Angeles, City of Angels, is full of celebrity and drama, but also beautiful spots like Malibu - a favourite haunt of surfers from all across the region. Shop ‘til you drop or walk in the footsteps of the stars. Charleston, South Carolina, is another great city in North America, full of a range of cultural influences which can be seen most vividly in the range of incredible restaurants here - definitely a destination for you foodies. Private tours of the Holy City include historical walks around streets and buildings dating all the way back to the 1600s.
Milwaukee is home to one of North America’s finest music festivals; in fact, Summerfest is considered the largest music festival in the world. Other musical cities include Nashville, of course - with a nickname like Music City, it’s no surprise it’s home to the country music hall of fame. For live music, New Orleans is second to none, with a huge dollop of Cajun and Creole seasoning throughout. New Orleans is also home to an annual film festival, and a place where cultural practices like voodoo and hoodoo still thrive. Learn about Bayou John and how the slave history intertwines with the spiritual practices still very much alive in the heart of Louisiana. North America is full of contradictions and contrasts, and from state to state, everything can change, from the people to the food to the music. It’s a world of discovery, and is full of amazing memories just waiting to be made.
