Oceania is an exotic-sounding name, and it means the continent that encompasses a wide range of islands across Australasia and the Pacific. The most recognisable parts of Oceania are Australia and New Zealand, but Papua New Guinea and the Malay Archipelago are usually included when discussing Oceania, too.
Oceania is a place of luxury as well as wild adventure, and, as such, is an amazing place to travel to for relaxing holidays. Samoa in the South Pacific is a tropical paradise of white, sandy beaches and tall palm trees. It’s a place to really slow down and take in the cloudless blue skies whilst enjoying gentle surf breaking on the shores of secluded beaches. If you ever get bored of soaking up the sun, head to the capital of Apia and explore markets and souvenir shops whilst trying out the local kava, guaranteed to chill you out. For the ultimate relaxation holiday though, Fijians are the absolute masters of slowing everything down and making time to enjoy every moment of life. Sit in silence with a cocktail outside a seaside dormitory, or clamber over rocks and spend hours peering into rockpools. Whatever your passions, the pace of life here gives you the chance to really enjoy them. Fiji is Oceania’s place to rediscover yourself, whether you do that with your family, your best friends, or as a solo traveller. Oceania is all about a more laid back attitude to life. Many people come here on working holidays as well as pure vacations, as life here just seems so much more relaxed. Whether you’re adventuring across Australia or island-hopping across the Pacific, you’re sure to find the holiday destination of your dreams in this enticing continent.
Australia’s aboriginal population accounts for around 3% of the people who live here, and theirs is one of the oldest cultures in the world. This culture has found its way into Australian artwork, music and a diversity of languages and customs that makes Australia completely fascinating. It’s not just Australia that has a thriving native culture. The Māori of New Zealand are well-known worldwide for their passionate war dances, but travel to New Zealand and you’ll discover that there's so much more to Māori life than this.
One of the most enticing things for fearless travellers is the sheer size of Oceania. Australia, in particular, is so huge it has three time zones! The famous Outback is so widespread that it’s possible to travel here for days without seeing another soul. Yet, in contrast, bustling cities like Melbourne are packed with people hungering for hidden underground theatres, filling rooftop bars, or finding bars none of their friends have yet discovered. New Zealand is home to wildlife you won’t find anywhere else in the world, like the famous Kiwi. It’s also the place to go kayaking, find incredible caves, and visit the setting for one of the most famous film trilogies ever: The Lord of the Rings.
