Aegean Airline S.A

About Aegean Airline S.A

As well as being Greece's largest airline, Aegean Airlines is also its flag carrier. Thecompany operates from a number of different airports, with major hubs in Athens as well as Larnaca Airport in Cyprus, and Macedonia International Airport. The corporate headquarters are in Kifisia, near the country's capital. Flights operate to most major European and Middle Eastern cities - in 2018, 153 different destinations were served.

The company traces its roots back to the Aegean Aviation company, a VIP corporate airline specialising in executive air travel, which became the first Greek airline to be issued an independent air operator's licence in Greece. In 1999 Aegean Airlines acquired Air Greece, and further expanded in 2001 after a merger with Cronus Airlines. Since then, the company has established a number of partnerships with other European Airlines, including Air Portugal, Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines to participate in codesharing, and shared membership of reward schemes.
