About Air China Limited

Air China was established in 1988 and eventually merged with China Aviation Corporation and China Southwest Airlines in 2002. As a national brand, it embodies Chinese culture with a strong red logo of a phoenix, which is meant to depict luck and happiness. Air China is proud to be closely associated with its namesake country and is China's only flag carrier and largest aviation company.


Headquartered in Beijing, it is a member of Star Alliance and has shares in Cathay Pacific and Shandong Airlines. With nearly 700 planes in its fleet (made up of Boeing and Airbus) it covers 770 different routes to 43 countries. It offers 137 international, 606 domestic and 27 regional routes.


Air China offers a rewards program to its frequent flyers called Phoenix Miles and is well known for its excellent customer service and high standards.

Airport Check-in: 

Passengers can check-in at the airport in cities outside/inside Mainland China. The airline also permits travellers, who have purchased its electronic ticket, to use the check-in kiosks at the airport? Confirm airport check-in times on the airline’s website.

Air China includes the cost of in-flight meals in the price of your ticket. Meals are offered to passengers according to flight time and fare class. First and Business Class flyers enjoy a pre-ordered meal from a long list of dishes. Economy Class passengers who require special delicacies can pre-order.

Air China has First, Business and Economy Class ticket offers.

First Class and Business fare tiers provide travellers with a high-end, personalised flying experience like lounge access, a range of in-flight entertainment, and an exquisite choice of in-flight meals. Both cabin classes offer varieties of dishes such as prawns, fish, beef, pork, chicken, duck, and vegetarian options.

Passengers in the airline’s flagship cabin can have the traditional Chinese tea service from its Forbidden Pavilion Tea menu.

Economy Class cabins have in-flight entertainment on Air China. The competitive fair class offers a much-enhanced flying experience with translation services from Mandarin to English, beverages (including white and red wine selections, beer and soft drinks).

The seating arrangement on its Economy Class is in 3-3-3 configuration. Passengers sit on 32 inches wide and reclining seats.

Hand Luggage: 

First and Business Class passengers are allowed two bags of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 8kg. Economy Class passengers are allowed only one, weighing 5kg maximum. An additional personal bag can be brought on as hand luggage. Hand luggage must not exceed  55cm x 40cm x 20cm in dimension.

Checked Luggage: 

Checked baggage allowance on its domestic flight are 40 kg (88 lb) for First Class, 30 kg (66 lb) for Business Class and 20 kg (44 lb) for Economy Class. The maximum dimension of each piece of baggage cannot exceed 100 cm (40 in), 60 cm (24 in) and 40 cm (16 in).

Passengers on its international flight can check in two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 32 kg for First/Business Class, two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 23 kg for Premium Economy and two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 23 kg for Economy Class.
