Asky Airlines-KP is a relatively new passenger airline which was created under the leadership of several West African nations. It is based in Lome, the capital city of Togo. The airline's hub is at Lome-Tokoin Airport, where it operates across several Central and West African countries.
Challenges to cross border travel became apparent after Air Afrique went bankrupt in 2002, particularly in Central and West Africa. As a result, several bodies that co- ordinate government action across the region decided to establish a new regional airline.
Asky Airlines had its first revenue flight on January 15th 2010. The airline is privately owned, with Ethiopian Airlines being the largest single shareholder (40%). It is believed to be profitable and currently employs over 450 staff.
It serves 19 destinations in Central and West Africa, connecting with flights to other destinations as part of the Ethiopian Airlines Network. It currently has a fleet of 8 aircraft.
