Middle East Airlines - ME is Lebanon's national flag carrier airline. The airline's head office is in the capital, Beirut, not far from Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. It currently operates scheduled flights across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.
Founded in May 1945, flights began on the 1st January the following year. The initial flights flew between Beirut and Nicosia, followed by flights to Egypt, Iraq and Syria. The airline now flies to 33 destinations.
After a total merger with Air Liban, the current name was adopted in 1965.
Middle East Airlines has 33 aircraft in service, including 13 Airbus A320-200. It's a member of the International Air Transport Association and the Arab Carriers organisation. In 2012, Middle East Airlines became the 17th member of SkyTeam, the second member from the Middle East.
It operates a codeshare agreement with 15 other airlines, including Aeroflot, Air Canada, Czech Airlines and Kuwait Airways.

Middle East Airlines offers both Online Check-in and Airport Check-in options.
Online Check-In:
MEA offers its passengers the option to check in online from 24 hours up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Airport Check-in:
The airport check-in desks opens three hours prior scheduled departure time and closes 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled flight time. The boarding gates will be closed 15 minutes before the departure time.
MEA serves lunch and dinner on the Gulf routes: a rich selection of tasty meals, including main course, fresh salad, dessert, and Lebanese hors d'oeuvre. The airline's chefs select from European and Lebanese cuisines for passengers. Business class passengers enjoy complimentary meals and beverages, and they can also choose from a collection of imported wines.
The airline serves a variety of delicious snacks on short flights. MEA satisfies its passengers' dietary preferences with special meals, including baby meals, vegetarian meals, diabetic meals, and others.
Middle East Airlines offers two cabin class options: Economy Class and Business Class. The business class features 42-48 inch seat pitch, superior reclining, and ample legroom. It also offers an extensive collection of movies, music, and TV shows for entertainment on personal screens. Seats are also comfortable in economic class, and passengers can enjoy excellent features like 32-inch pitch, spacious legroom, and headrest. A wide range of entertainment options, including audio and video-on-demand systems are available for MEA economy passengers.
Carry-on Baggage
Middle East Airlines permits passengers to travel with one piece of hand luggage weighing not more than 10 kg. The baggage must not exceed maximum dimensions of 56cm x 40cm x 25cm or 115cm.
Checked Baggage
Economy Class:
The weight limit is 23 kg. Passengers flying between Beirut and Geneva, London, Milan, Athens, Brussels, Nice, Paris and Rome, can carry up to 30 kg checked baggage.
Business Class:
The weight limit is 60 kg. The following destinations from Beirut allow three pieces of checked baggage, weighing not more than 23 kg per bag; Geneva, London, Athens, Brussels, Milan, Nice, Paris, and Rome.
