About Aero Contractors Company Nigeria Lt

Aero Contractors - AJ is a Nigerian state-owned airline which operates out of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.

It was formed in 1959 and registered in Nigeria in 1960. It was, at the time, a subsidiary business of the Dutch company, Schreiner Airways B.V. It became a company in its own right in 1973, with the Nigerian government taking a 40% stake. This was increased to 60% in 1976. The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria currently owns 60% of the company's shares, with the rest being owned by the Ibru family.

Aero Contractors currently has two divisions. Aero Nigeria operates scheduled passenger services between western Africa and Nigeria, while Rotary Wing provides helicopter services to the booming Nigerian oil and gas industry.

Aero Contractors was a victim of the Nigerian recession in 2015 when it ceased

operations temporarily. It has since resumed services and now has a fleet of seven aircraft,

serving 12 destinations.

Food on board
Food on board

Aero Contractor introduced the now common in-flight meal programme, 'Aero SkySnax' menu, to Nigerian travellers in 2009. It allows passengers to order for snacks in-flight, from a menu consisting of delicious pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches, to cashew nuts served with beverages or water.

Cabin classes
Cabin classes

Aero Contractor provides low fare Economy tickets and more flexible, Business Class tickets.

The Nigerian carrier is possibly one of the most affordable airlines in the market, despite an increasingly poor reputation for check-in and boarding operations.

You can book tickets online, subject to fare changes and availability. The airline's low fare packages are non-flexible. It has to be upgraded before departure, where the passenger has to reschedule flights.

Do not expect to get cheaper fares over the counter inside the terminal, as they always come with advance-booking terms and conditions.
