Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (IATA Code: BCN) is an international airport situated 7.5 miles from central Barcelona. With over 52 million annual passengers, it's the second busiest airport in Spain and the sixth busiest in the whole of Europe.
The origins of Barcelona-El Prat Airport stretch back to 1918, with the first scheduled commercial flight taking place in 1927. A new runway was built in 1948, and the first international service was instituted shortly after, a regular Pan-Am flight to New York.
