King Shaka International Airport, or KSIA, is the primary airport in Durban, South Africa. The airport has a convenient central location as it is situated just 35 km north of Durban's city centre. The modern airport welcomed passengers on the 1st May 2010, just in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Designed by Osmond Lange Architects and Planners, the King Shaka International Airport was built to replace the Durban International Airport and cost around $900 million to complete. The airport offers both commercial and domestic services, forming part of the key 'golden triangle' between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Currently, the airport is home to 7 passenger airlines and 2 cargo airlines, making it one of the busiest airports in Africa.
The King Shaka International Airport forms an essential part of the Dube TradePort and is home to trade and logistics warehousing. This enables the airport to offer excellent cargo and light industry services.

Many lounges at the airport are equipped with comfy seats, free snacks, and a varied selection of alcoholic drinks and food. The lounges are open to passengers at a reduced cost no matter the airline they are flying with, and they offer a relaxing atmosphere during your stay at the airport. Access starts at R 320.
Durban is a coastal get away from the airport for someone willing to go sightseeing. One can visit Durban Botanic Gardens, the family-friendly uShaka Marine World, or walk the promenades at Durban Beach Front.
King Shaka houses a wide variety of duty-free shops. One can shop for a variety of things from Cosmic Candy sweets for the kids, business attire at the Tie Shop to books at Exclusive Books. Shops located in pre-security include brand-name gear like Nike as well as souvenir shops. Duty-Free is available at The Big Five Duty-Free store.
