Named after the famed Nigerian medical missionary, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, also known as Enugu Airport (ENU), serves a number of cities including the capital Enugu, Onitsha and Abakaliki.
The airport has recently undertaken a renovation and expansion to prepare its transition to the only international airport in the South East. The ₦4.13bn transformation includes the extension and expansion of the runway.
The airport acts as a hub for tourists wanting to explore everything that Nigeria wants to offer, and what better place to start than Enugu- one of the filming locations for Nollywood (the thriving Nigerian film scene). As well as the potential to mingle with A-listers, it is also home to a number of stunning landmarks such as the Udi Hills or Murtala Muhammed Park.
Travellers can easily transfer to the city by bus or taxi, and a number of hotels can be found less than ten minutes drive from the terminal.
