Ibadan, Nigeria, is located on seven hills approximately 160km from the Atlantic coast. It has a population of over 3 million, making it the third most populous city in Nigeria behind Kanos and Lagos. It is also the largest city in Nigeria by geographical area.
Commissioned in June 1982 by the former Senate President, Joseph Waya, Ibadan Airport (Code IBA) is located in Alakia and only 5km from the central business district.
Ibadan’s diverse hub includes rich culture and important history. It is the site of the first television station established in Africa along with the Cocoa House, the first skyscraper in Nigeria and the University of Ibadan, Africa’s first university.
The airport plays a key role, serving primarily Overland and Arik Air, providing both international and domestic travel for private and corporate clients. It is a major hub for transport, tourism and commerce, connecting the large population with other states and countries.
