Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas is the main international airport in the vibrant and enticing Spanish capital of Madrid. The airport is extremely well connected, situated just 13km northeast of Madrid's historic city centre, making travel to and from the airport efficient and convenient by bus, car, taxi or train.
The airport first opened its doors in 1928. Having grown steadily over the years to become Europe's second-largest airport, Madrid-Barajas now has 5 passenger terminals and welcomes over 60 million passengers through its doors every year.
The airport is the primary hub and maintenance base for large airlines such as Air Europa and Iberia. As a result, Iberia is responsible for more than 40% of Barajas' traffic.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas functions as the gateway to the Iberian peninsula from the world and the rest of Europe. Furthermore, it is a particularly key link for connections between Europe and Latin America.
