Reading Time: 6 minutes

Children’s Day is the perfect excuse to take your kids on a memorable family vacation and let them enjoy themselves to the fullest. Family vacations allow us to spend quality time with our children, particularly teens who are eager to learn more about new places and experiences. Luckily, there are plenty of destinations with exciting activities and events to keep both children and parents entertained, even if just for a few days.

Children's Day

Are you looking for an amazing destination to visit with your kids for the Children’s Day weekend, here are our top picks. Whether you’re searching for a fun and exciting trip or a more relaxing one with your children, this list has something for everyone.

Accra

Accra is a fun tourist destination for families. A place like the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park offers families swimming pools, restaurants, and La Palm Kid’s Theme Park. The section dedicated to kids comes with slides, climbing frames, viewing platforms with telescopes, a sandpit, and painting areas. They can head to Marvel’s Mini Golf, where they can relax and watch people golf.

A quick trip to Ci Gusta will provide them with a delectable snack and dessert. American pancakes, crepes, giant waffles, frozen yoghurt, cakes, cookies, and several ice cream flavours are among the menu’s offerings. Children under the age of 12 can visit the Kidz Cottage, which is equipped with video games, books, and toys.

A1 Raceway is one of the most popular places for children. It has well-equipped racing tracking with Honda karts. When they grow weary of driving, they can indulge in exquisite delights at the on-site cafe. If your children are too little to ride the karts, they can relax at the playground.

Dubai

Dubai, the futuristic metropolis, features incredible kid-friendly attractions. Coming to Dubai will leave your youngsters swamped with interesting activities, from dancing water foundations to amusement parks, and skyscraper views to magnificent family-friendly resorts.

With its diverse experiences, the Dubai Parks and Resort should be their first destination. You can walk to Bollywood, Motion Gate, and Legoland from there. When the kids become weary of running around the park, they can relax in the air-conditioned houses. There is a theme park and a separate water park at Legoland. The MotionGate is comparable to Universal Studios Singapore in that it provides family-friendly entertainment.

They can also explore the Avatarz Playground at Legon Botanical Gardens, filled with suspension bridges, rope climbing structures, slides, swings, a jungle gym, and swings.

Cape Town

Cape Town offers children a balanced act of being happy, occupied, and entertained. The journey could begin at the Noordhoek Farm Village, where they can taste some of the finest local meals in South Africa, and still have time to play around.  In addition, the Company’s Gardens have open space for different activities and give them the opportunity to feed the squirrels.

You can take them for karting if you have older kids at Kenilworth Karting, where they can experience a petrolhead competition. The thrill of racing can keep them busy throughout their stay at this destination.

Furthermore, Cape Town has the College of Magic, where kids can explore their imagination.  On Saturday morning you can take the kids to learn the art of magic.  The Rush Trampoline Park is an indoor park for the children to jump on wall-to-wall trampolines.  Finally, you can take them to the Atlantis Dunes, filled with fine white sands for sandboarding.

Nairobi

While Kenya conjures the image of wildlife, there are still places where you can take your kids without worrying about their safety. Aside from the group safari tours, Nairobi is a good place to spend time with the kids. You can take them to the Nairobi National Park if they want to see the big five. A visit to Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage can be a life-changing event for them. They can feed orphan elephants and rhinos and watch them move around.

Children's Day

Visit the Giraffe Centre with your kids, and let them get up close with the majestic animals and learn how to feed them giraffe nuts. The Bomas of Kenya also provide people with cultural markets, tribal dancing, and other aspects of life. They can run around the mud huts and watch the Maasai tribe.

London

London has the best attractions for kids. You can help your kids create memories by visiting London. They get transported to the magical world of Harry Potter when they visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.  They are exposed to the iconic film’s interactive activities, props, and sets.

The Tower of London teaches them the history of the 1,000-year-old tower that houses a royal residence, fortress, and a former prison. They can visit the London Transport Museum, which has trains, red buses, and other artefacts.

The All Aboard play zone at the museum is a fascinating experience where kids can fix a miniature tube train or operate a bus. You can also take them to KidZania, a place where they can explore different careers.  Curious teenagers might get an idea of what they want to study at institutions in the near future.

Finally, at Shrek’s Adventure, they can board a flying bus, explore the swamp, and attempt to break free from prison!

Abeokuta

While there are hundreds of fun things to do with kids in Lagos, there are times when you just need to get the kids out of the city for a fun break to change things up. Abeokuta is an excellent location for this.

The town is one of the most popular day trips out of Lagos or Ibadan. You can keep the kids entertained, and make the most of this day trip, with a tour of the Olumo Rock, OOPL Wildlife Park, OOPL museum, and the National Museum of Abeokuta.

With just one day in Abeokuta, you can still see the town’s highlights. Better still, you can take your children on a food tour and guide them to some great places to eat local foods in Abeokuta.

In short, the town provides an easy opportunity to enjoy a full day of excitement with your kids, leaving you exhausted but refreshed when you return home.
