With a mixture of African and Portuguese cultures, Angola is famed for the warmth of its welcome. Luanda, the thriving capital, is a city of gleaming skyscrapers and impressive government buildings on palm edged promenades. There are great bars, restaurants and nightlife to be experienced in a city made rich by oil wealth.
Away from the capital, the Portuguese influence is clear to see in the art-deco buildings of Benguela and Namibe. Many visitors come for the stunning 1,000-mile coastline. The beaches are some of the best in the world and still relatively undiscovered. In the bays at Sangano and Cabo Ledo, you'll find perfect golden sand and warm, crystal clear water. The Benguela railway takes you inland to endless plains, where remote national parks are once again home to thriving wildlife. Angola is a young, optimistic country with a stunning natural setting and lively cities. It's a place to visit before the whole world catches on.
