Snowsports are the order of the day when paying a visit to beautiful Switzerland, but hitting the slopes isn't all the country has to offer.

Landlocked between the European powerhouses of France, Germany, and Italy, there may be no coastal resorts to enjoy, but Switzerland does boast stunning scenery - including more than 1,500 lakes. The most famous are Lake Maggiore, Lake Geneva and Lake Constance, all of which present visitors with sweeping landscapes to soak in, watersports to enjoy and the chance for peace, reflection and relaxation. Elsewhere, Switzerland's mountain ranges not only provide some of the best ski resorts on the continent but also fantastic hiking and biking routes in the summer months. While Monte Rosa is the country's tallest peak at more than 15,000 feet, its most famous is often regarded as the Matterhorn, which straddles the border with Italy. Switzerland's towns and cities also present a mixture of history, culture and beautiful chocolate-box houses and streets, worthy of any postcard home.
