A country steeped in history, tradition and culture, China is simply a mesmerising place to visit.

With a population of nearly 1.4 billion, and over 9.5 million square kilometres to see, it offers an abundance of sights and experiences for any visitor. Of course, it goes without saying that the Great Wall of China is an absolute must for any bucket list - all 6,700 kilometres of it, stretching from the Yellow Sea to Central Asia. As a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, many will consider a trip to China incomplete without visiting this amazing feat of architecture. Also in Beijing, the Forbidden City and the Imperial Palace are sites of huge cultural significance. Away from the capital, the Terracotta Army in Xi'an - a 2,000-year-old underground army uncovered by farmers in 1974 - is another must-see, alongside the beautiful scenery around the Li River in Guilin. For more nature, don't forget Chengdu and its giant pandas.
