With toasty temperatures all year round, it's easy to see why the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a popular choice for holidaymakers.

A true melting pot of culture, the UAE is comprised of seven separate states (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain), known as emirates, which united in 1971. The most popular of the emirates is undoubtedly Dubai, famed for being one of the Middle East's premier tourist destinations with the world's only 7-star hotel and the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the world's tallest building standing at 828m. Dubai is also a shopper's paradise where visitors can pick up designer goods in the Dubai Mall or haggle for spices in the lively souks. The country's capital, Abu Dhabi, is also popular with tourists, offering the magnificent marble architecture of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, coastal scenery of the Persian Gulf and desert dunes.
