The country of Indonesia is something of an underrated gem. Situated in the Pacific, Indonesia has been long under-visited, now emerging as a beautiful location for tourists for a wide variety of reasons.

Firstly, the country is located on the “Pacific Rim of Fire”, a tectonic fault which features hundreds of volcanoes. Over a hundred of the volcanoes can be found in Indonesia, including Mount Bromo. Climbing the neighbouring Mount Penanjakan early in the morning can offer beautiful views over the volcano, and isn’t a sight to be missed. Indonesia is also a country with a deep religious history, which can be seen at Borobudur. The Buddhist temple is over a thousand years old, and although it can often be crowded throughout the day, visiting to see the sunrise can be the best time to look at the sprawling temple.
