Turkish Airlines is the flag carrier airline for Turkey. It serves 315 destinations in Europe, Asia, North America, the Middle East and Africa. This makes it the world's largest airline when measured by passenger destinations. It flies to 126 countries, serving more airports from a single location than any other global airline.
Founded in 1933 as Turkish State Airlines, it was originally a department of the Ministry of National Defence. A service between Ankara, Istanbul and Athens was the first international flight, beginning in 1947. Services to Cairo, Nicosia and Beirut were soon added, with domestic flights remaining the airline's main focus.
The airline currently flies 353 aircraft. These include 40 Airbus A300-300, and 102 Boeing 737-800.
Turkish Airlines sponsor the Irish First Division football club, Drogheda United and the Argentine sports club, Club Atletico River Plate.
In 2000, the airline inaugurated its frequent-flyer program, called Miles & Smiles. Earned miles can be used on Turkish Airlines flights.

Turkish Airline makes use of online, self-service kiosks, mobile app, and Airport check-in counter options.
Passengers that use self service check-in have 12 hours before their scheduled flight departure. For domestic flights, 60 minutes before take-off, and 75 minutes for departure of international flights.
Online check-in:
You save time when you have checked in online by using the baggage desk without queuing, and hand with your baggage at the other counters. You can use the printout of your boarding pass or the mobile boarding pass.
Note: At Caracas station, the check-in counters closes 120 minutes before departure time.
Airport Check-in:
For international flights, passengers should arrive two hours before their scheduled flight departure. One hour is for those using the domestic flights.
For passengers with a boarding pass, their domestic flight is 60 minutes before your takeoff. The international flights reserve 75 minutes before their scheduled flight departure.

The airline welcomes passengers on board with a welcome drink. Passengers should request their special meal at least 24 hours before their scheduled flight.
Turkish Airlines offer Business and Economy class to its many passengers.
Economy Class
Economy Class passengers can travel in comfort with seats that recline up to 15cm, offering 79 cm of legroom, adjustable head, foot supports, USB port behind seat, 12-inch personal screens, 4-way head restraint, and 46 cm seat width for long haul flights.
Business Class
In Business Class, you can enjoy complete Turkish hospitality and pleasurable experience with the finest selections of Turkish and international cuisine prepared by Turkish Do&Co and served upon porcelain tableware.
The fully lie-flat seats open into a comfortable 193 cm bed, massage feature, seat control panel, power socket, personal reading lamp, private screen, and adjustable and rotating food table.
The airline provides amenity kits containing items such as socks, lip balm, eye mask, and earplugs. Work and pleasure blends in the awarding Business Class equipped with a world-class collection of in-flight entertainment.
In accordance with Covid-19 pandemic measures, Turkish Airlines has temporarily amended to reduce movement around the cabin and maintain social distance.
The airline allows one personal item per passenger, not weighing more than 4 kg. One piece of cabin baggage per passenger, should not exceed 8 kg and of 23x40x55 cm, to be carried in the cargo compartment free of charge.
Non-prohibited liquids such as deodorant, contact lens solutions, and perfume, must weigh less than 100 ml in their original containers.
On all flights, the airline permits a single piece of baggage weighing not more than 32kg.
Infant passengers are entitled to a piece of 10 kg baggage and 23 kg on flights under the piece baggage application. Parents can carry strollers not exceeding 115 cm.
