Air Canada

About Air Canada

In addition to being the country's flag-carrier airline, Air Canada is also the largestairline in Canada based on annual passenger numbers. Alongside its regional partners,it operates over 1600 scheduled flights every day.

The company traces its roots back to the government-founded Trans-Canada Airlines, which flew transcontinental flights from 1938 onwards and gradually grew into a largeinternational operation.

Although the company's corporate headquarters are in Montreal, the majority offlights operate out of the airline's large hub in Toronto, at Toronto PearsonInternational Airport.

As was the case with many international airlines, the company was privatised in the 1980s,and it went from strength to strength, absorbing its largest rival Canadian Airlines in2000. Although it suffered setbacks later that decade, it was reorganised in the late 2000s and celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2017. It now flies to over 90 international locations.
