TAAG Angola is the state-owned airline of Angola. The airline operates a consistent domestic service, medium-haul flights across the rest of Africa, and long-haul servicesv that include Brazil, Cuba and Portugal. The airline was initially set up in 1938 and hasvsince undergone a series of rebrands before finally being named TAAG Angola in 1973.


After the airline's formation in 1938, the first flights were to fellow African countries,vincluding the Congo and other locations in Angola. It was only in 1980 that the airline ventured beyond the continent, to support cities such as Paris, Rome and Lisbon.Although many of these routes have now stopped, the airline retains its global ambitions.

 

Customers are rewarded by TAAG through the Umbi Umbi program, a frequent flyer scheme which gives TAAG customers benefits every time they fly. This includes free tickets on future flights and seat upgrades on any flights you might have already booked.

TAAG Angola provides an online, check-in at the kiosks, and airport counters check-in options.

Online Check-in

International Flights: Online check-in starts 36 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes to scheduled flight departure.

Domestic Flights: Online check-in opens 24 hours before scheduled flight departure and closes 60 minutes prior to flight departure.

Online check-in is available for flights departing Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Luanda, Johannesburg, Lubango, Cabinda, Cape Town, Ondgiva, and Sao Paulo.

Check in 4 hours prior to your flight departure and this must be done 1 and half hours before your scheduled flight departure.

TAAG on board meals are prepared with fresh ingredients.  The menus complexity and preparation depend on the cabin class. Passengers in Business and First Class eat specially prepared and higher quality meals.

Economy Class

For safety reasons, TAAG Angola allows hand luggage with the following weight and size limits:

  • Domestic Routes: A maximum weight of 5 kg for passengers in Economy Class, 8 kg in Business Class and First Class.

 

  •  International Routes:  A maximum weight of 8 kg. The airline exempts flights for Beijing or flights coming from Brazil to travel with 10 kg carry-on for all classes.

 

  • The sum of the luggage or suitcase’s measurement must not exceed 115 cm (height + width + length).

Personal items such as medical devices to use on board, laptop/tablet computer bag, or personal shoulder bag are allowed free.
