SA Express was a state-owned South African airline founded in 1994. The airline had a fleet size of 19 aircraft with an average fleet age of 17 years. Liquidators began auctioning the airline's assets in June 2020, having been on provisional liquidation since April of the same year.

Online check-in isn’t available on SA Express website. 

Airport Check-in:

Passengers on SA Express regional flights must arrive at least two-and-a-half hours before scheduled departure time. Domestic flight passengers must arrive not later than a one-and-a-half-hour before the scheduled departure time.

The check-in desk closes 50 minutes before the scheduled departure time for its regional flight and 30 minutes before pre-planned takeoff time for domestic flights.

SA Express provides snacks and hot meals onboard its Economy and Business class flights respectively. Special meals have to be ordered at least 2 days before scheduled flight departure.

The airline's largest aircraft can carry a maximum of 74 passengers and 50 passengers on its smallest.

Economy class passengers experience the comfort of flying in an aircraft with advanced design features; adjustable personal lighting and Air Conditioner, as well as comfortable padded seats.

Hand Luggage: 

All passengers are allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg. The dimension of the baggage must not exceed 115 linear cm.

Checked Luggage: 

Checked-in baggage allowances is a maximum of 40kg for Business Class travellers and 30kg for passengers in Economy Class cabin. Checked baggage dimension mustn’t exceed 90cm (l) 53cm (w). Any luggage that’s more than 32kg will require buying extra baggage space. Life Plat, Plat, Pelt and Gelt passengers are permitted a checked baggage allowance of 30kg. Silv passengers are permitted 10kg.

Infants & Children:

 Children are allowed 20kg of checked baggage, while infants get 10kg of allowance.
