Your guide to Montreal

In addition of being the largest city in the province of Quebec, Montreal has proven to be the most multicultural metropolis of Canada, if not all of the Americas. It keeps strong marks of its French origins but has welcomed people of so many backgrounds it has become truly cosmopolitan. As night time falls an orange glow coats the city, and Montreal's vibrant nightlife comes into motion

Montreal is one of the most interesting cities in Canada as it is a French-infused city right in the North American heartland. While the city is bilingual, be prepared to encounter more French than English as the locals celebrate the unique history that makes their city unique.

Walking around the centre of the city you will like you are in old Europe with classic 18t h century facades and European style street cafes ideal for people watching. But enter any of the many grand buildings and you will find glittering modern shopping malls full of designer brands and cutting-edge wining and dining.

The city also fancies itself a cultural hub and is full of museums, theatres, and galleries that celebrate both international stars and local talent. More than 90 major festivals happen in the city each year, so there is always something new and interesting to see.

While it is wonderful to walk the streets in the summer and autumn months with its cool breeze and delightful colours, don’t be afraid to visit them in the winter. Not only do pubs and restaurants transform into cosy hideaways, but the skiing in the surrounding countryside is excellent.
