Nestled on West Africa's Gulf of Guinea, the city is renowned for its diverse wildlife, secluded beaches and old forts. It's one of the top tourist destinations in West Africa, thanks to its year-round tropical warm climate, nature, relative peace, and emerging hospitality industry. It's a large city with different districts across five regions. Some of these neighbourhoods are crowded and rowdy shanty-towns. The increasing growth in urbanisation has given rise to a handful of hip places like Osu, Roman Ridge and airport residential.
From Go-karting to sports and entertainment bars, theatres, cinemas, museums to historical sights, Accra has got it all. The weather is slightly cooler between October and March, making it the best time to visit the city. Getting around the city via an eHailing app is always the easiest. However, there are taxis and crowded Trotros. It's, most importantly, a walkable city, fairly spread out and somewhat safe.
There are great places to shop, whether you're interested in traditional goods and fabrics; beauty products, household items or food. There are smaller curio markets in different spots around the city.
