Your guide to Bogota

Bogotá is the largest and capital of Colombia. A sprawling urban jungle, approximately 2640 metres above sea level in the Colombian Andes region. The city blends so much from the old and new. You'll stumble upon century-old plazas and churches tucked beneath towering skyscrapers. Or find laid-back, tree-lined bicycle routes bypassing wild-traffic avenues. It's an ideal destination for both business and leisure trips, with internationally-acclaimed universities and offices of multinational companies.

Bogotá has 20 distinct localities, including La Candelaria, Chapinero, El Salitre and Parque de la 93. The city experiences one of the most heartwarming climates found anywhere in the world. Of course, it's nestled close to the equator on high altitude. You can get around the city by bicycle, bus or taxi (including the popular taxi app, Uber).

Whether it's the original Bogotá graffiti tour or a tour of La Candelaria, there are many immersive attractions in the city. Remember to cop some local products like inexpensive handicrafts and jewellery, leather handbags, shoes, and wallets. Try out the local Colombian delicacies such as the corn flour-based pancakes (Arepas), empanadas (like pot pies) and Ajiaco.
