United Airlines is a major US airline based in Chicago, Illinois. It is the third-largest airline in the world, and transports over 150 million passengers annually to destinations across six different continents.
The airline can trace its existence back to Varney Air Lines, which was formed in 1926. Through a series of mergers, business agreements and ongoing investment, United Airlines gradually developed into the transportation behemoth it is today. Most recently, United merged its passenger operations with Continental Airlines, pushing the company's growth further.
United Airlines offer their MileagePlus system, which is a frequent flyer program that aims to reward its loyal customers. MileagePlus members can access last seat availability benefits, meaning that even if there's just one seat remaining, it can be booked. United also offers the Excursionist Perk, allowing you to take a free one-way trip to a city from the multi-city itinerary on offer.
